A Successful Event Raising just over €3500.

The cycling event that took place on November 7th and 8th 2009, was an all round success. We managed to raise just over €3500 for Maria de Lourdes, who runs the dog and cat kennels in Goldra.

The cyclists gathered at 'Paws4Pets' in Albufeira and made their way alond the 'Ecovia' bike route to Lagos on the first day. As to avoid the busy EN125 we had a boat organised at Alvor to take us across to Meia Paria.

A look at some of the faces that participated in out two day cycling event

The first evening we enjoyed a meal together, drew the names from the raffle and had overnight accommodation arranged for us at a Lagos sports hall.

The following morning had a surprise in store for us; gale force winds from the west coast (the direction we were heading) so we arranged to have the cyclists and bikes transported to Sagres and work our way to Lagos from there.

The scenery on the second day was very impressive as we went past small villages, seaside towns and quiet landscapes. A few hills were presented to us but nothing we could not handle.

The greatest thing about this event was the coming together of so many people who really wanted to get involved and help this worthy cause. We had a mixture of nationalities such as Dutch, German, Portuguese, Irish, English.
